Great Ideas for Children’s Day 2015

Mark it in your diary – this coming Sunday 16th August is Día del Niño (Children’s Day) in Buenos Aires and across the country. The festival for the smallest members of the family is a time to play, laugh, give gifts, and enjoy some fun events in the city.

Here are a few ideas for special events and favorite places that have a discount for Children’s Day. We will update you with more when they come along.

1. Bioparque Temaikèn

Temaikèn is going to be busy on Children’s Day but it is the ideal place to spend some time in nature on the very edge of the city – animal-loving kids will adore watching the creatures roaming (almost) free in their large free-range enclosures. Children also have fun participating in feeding times and letting off steam on the playgrounds.

The park is located in Escobar, on Ruta Provincial 25. You can easily drive from the city or take the semi-rapido bus 60 from Plaza Italia. There is also a Chevallier Costera Metropolitana bus service direct to the park’s gates, also leaving from Plaza Italia.

Offer: In August, “Mes del Niño”, you get one free child’s ticket for every adult ticket purchased (kids under 3 go free all the time.) Adult tickets are $230 at the time of writing.

2. Quinta Estación

On Children’s Day itself, Sunday 16th August, the kids-friendly café and restaurant in Palermo Quinta Estación puts on the “Show de Florentina” at 16:30hs. Sing-along with the entertainers and also enjoy the kids’ play room and the space to relax with a coffee.

3. Parque de la Costa

Parque de la Costa in Tigre is packed with attractions for all ages, from the hair-raising rides for older kids and adults to little cars and shops, ball pools and mini trains for the little ones. Hours of fun. Busy at weekends.

Offer: For August, children under 12 go free when you buy an adult Pasaporte Promo at $150 (up to 3 free children per adult, with under-3s free all the time.)

4. Escuela de Equitación Hipocampo

Sunday 16th August sees a special horsey event for the little ones at Club Hípico Buenos Aires, Av Figueroa Alcorta 5100 in Palermo. Pony riding, learning to brush and care for horses, games, and fun plus refreshments. The day lasts from 13:00hs to 16:00hs and you need to reserve a place beforehand at info@eventoskids.com

This isn’t the cheapest children’s day option however – $430 for the afternoon, but a good investment if your kids love ponies.
